The playground in Goodwill Park was installed in 1988 and had been in poor and deteriorating condition since 2000. The equipment needed replacing for both safety and accessibility. It could also benefit from improvements in design and play options offered by contemporary playground equipment. In addition to serving the Falmouth community in its central park location, it also serves as a destination for the Town’s summer camp program. The playground pavilion is reserved every weekend and weekday for at least thirty-nine weeks of the year.
In 2015 DPW’s Parks Department requested and was appropriated $160,580 from the CPFund for replacement of the playground equipment. The Department contributed in-kind services, including the ground preparation and installation of the equipment and a playground border. The playground was installed in time for summer activities in 2016.
